Leonard Moreland opens up about his rise from pumping gas to being the CEO of Heritage Bank
MCDONOUGH, Ga. – Oct. 17, 2018 – South Atlanta Magazine’s business issue with Leonard Moreland on its cover, takes a deep dive into the world of the now bank CEO, who overcame quite a bit to be where he is today.
In the cover story, Moreland sits down with the southern crescent magazine to talk about his dreams, his career path and his community involvement. “Numbers Man,” by senior writer Michael Booth, tells the story of how during sweltering nights and freezing winter days, young Leonard Moreland pumped gas at a service station along I-75, in a time where there were no self service pumps. As he checked the oil and cleaned the windshields of dozens of cars, he dreamed of being a power forward in the NBA or an all-star third baseman in the major leagues. Michael’s piece is the definitive story of his transition from sports to finance, who made it happened, and what it meant for his future.
Apparently working at the bank gave Moreland a new perspective, “It told me I’d rather work in air conditioning,” Leonard said. Readers can expect to walk away from this article with a lot more insight on who Moreland is and how he got to where he is now. Additional photos of Moreland from his photo shoot are featured throughout the issue. Copies are available at your local Heritage Bank branch while supplies last.
