Please listen to him deliver his message, also transcribed below.
Hello, I’m Leonard Moreland CEO of Heritage Southeast Bank. Heritage Southeast Bank is the parent company of Heritage Bank, The Heritage Bank and Providence Bank. Today, I’d like to speak to you on behalf of the Employees, Management and Board of Directors.
The COVID-19 virus has turned the entire world upside down. There is a great deal of uncertainty in our daily lives that leads us to the sobering reality of how fragile life is to each of us and our loved ones. These are times that help us to realize how fortunate and blessed we are to live in this country and to have the freedoms we enjoy. All around us, we see examples of those that are placing the well-being of others above that of themselves. People just like us, that we once took for granted, now suddenly are our heroes, whether it is the brave that serve our hospitals to those that stock the shelves of our grocery stores. People are overcoming the anxiety that the coronavirus has created, to be certain others have what they need to sustain life.
Today and every day, since this crisis began, the more than three hundred employees of our bank have reported to work with an eagerness to serve our great customers. We understand we have a role to play in helping our local communities survive these challenges. While it pales in comparison to the sacrifices of our first responders and health care workers, we, too, stand ready to support you and to help guide you through these turbulent times.
While we have had to adjust our lobby hours to appointment-only, our drive-throughs, Tellerlive, ATMs and call centers are available to serve you. Our dedicated group of bankers will find a way to meet your needs. We have always prided ourselves on the face-to-face, person-to-person service our banks were built on, but today our technology is proving to provide the solutions to fill the gaps until we can again serve you in person.
Our government is being very aggressive in its approach to support small business. We are seeing programs to replace lost paychecks and even provide a little extra cash until our economy recovers. Our bankers are ready to assist you and advise you, as you determine which programs work best for your situation. You are not alone in this; we are a trusted partner and we are ready to help.
I, too, hear the news and the projections that our toughest days are ahead. While this is unsettling, my faith tells me to stand strong, and trust: this too shall pass. We, as individuals, our bank, our community, our state, and our country will be measured by how we manage through the coming days, weeks, or perhaps months. As we continue to rise to the occasion, I am confident we will be proud of ourselves.
From our entire bank family to yours, we wish you the best, and God Bless You.
