Heritage Bank understands that the security of your personal account information is important to you. To help us offer Online Banking services in a secure manner, we use industry-standard technology and procedures, which are described below. This technology allows us to properly authenticate your identity when you access our Online Banking services and protect your information as it traverses the Internet between your PC and our Online Banking System.
Our system requires customer identification through a private password and user code before you can get into the front-end of the system. A private password must be chosen during the enrollment process for Online Banking. Our Customer Service personnel cannot see a private password that has been set by the customer. You should keep this password and account number absolutely private. We will never ask you to disclose your password to us. Call us at 770-478-8881 immediately if anyone proposes to be from Heritage Bank and ask you to tell them your password.
Transmission Security: Encryption
Once you have logged on correctly, you will enter a secure environment in which you can conduct your transactions. Our Online Banking system secures the session using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol based on RSA encryption methods, to ensure that data that travels through the Internet is kept secure. This includes support for “strong” or 128-bit key encryption. Encryption protects data from being monitored while it is being transmitted. For more information, see the following on the Web: https://www.icsa.net.
Our Online Banking system is ICSA Certified. This certification involves an extensive ICSA onsite and external security audit including ongoing external “intrusion testing”. Additional information about ICSA can be found on the web at: https://www.icsa.net.
To further protect you, a timeout feature is used. This feature will automatically log you out of your current financial service session after an extended period of inactivity on our site.
Online Banking E-Mail Communications
Message security cannot be assured when using the “Contact Us” option. In general, communications sent over the public Internet are not necessarily secure. Therefore, we will not send, and we strongly suggest that you do not send, any confidential account information. We will not respond to account information related questions sent via Internet email, or open email attachments. Furthermore, Heritage Bank will never solicit customer information in the form of email. If you receive an email requesting that you update your personal information, please contact Heritage Bank at 770-478-8881.
The Online Banking server is protected by a firewall, which is setup to reject unauthorized access from the Internet. This reemphasizes the importance of the password, which is the only legitimate entry into the program. Our Online Banking System uses an industry award winning and ICSA Certified firewall.
